I Can'T Sleep Arghhhhhhhhhhh

I just can’t get to sleep Am so tired that I could weep Can’t get this poetry out of my head I have to get up when I’d rather be in bed The words go round and round and sleep evades me I have to get up, write my poem, have a cup of tea Then I stumble back into bed Leaving my poems to be read I am beginning to seriously wonder If this poem writing lark is a massive blunder Should be in bed in my ‘difannyous’ nightie* If you saw me in it you’d think I was flighty Instead I’m sitting on my sofa Looking like a bog eyed gopher Pen in hand and scribbling away I see night turn into another day * this phrase comes from the British Comedian Ken Dodd the actual word being diaphanous Will not go into what I really wear LOL J Jan Allison 28th March 2014

I have notebooks and pens/pencils everywhere, I sometimes stop whereverI am to jot down lines. And me being insomniac makes it even worse. Sometimes I startle awake from a light sleep because a line appeared apparently in my weird brain, and it wakes me up telling me I have to write it down. And of course afterwards I can't sleep anymore

Ah, yes, I know those nights...I experience them often anymore and I can't stand a poem going through my head! I've found that if I don't write it right then, I won't remember it in the morning, no matter how hard I concentrate! I related to the poem very much my friend! I really enjoyed reading this tremendous poem this evening! What a terrific piece, Great Work!! My internet was down again, that is why I haven't been on this past week. But I'm back now to read all my friends works!

Oh Russell in a strange sort of way it pleases me I'm not the only one who suffers this way. If I walk down the road to my parents by the time i get there rhyming lines are buzzing and I have to get them written down. Got scraps of paper on kitchen work surface when I'm cooking in case inspiration hits me. Will pop by and read your works soon Hugs Jan xxx

Great title, Jan. It gets right to the point. As long as the brain is flowing that's a good thing, though it's timing needs to be tweeked.

Good sense of humour! I think most writers 'suffer' this way...it runs in the soup-family. :) // paul

Oh no Paul I was hoping you were going to tell me there is an instant cure! Pleased it made you smile - not sure everyone would have heard of Ken Dodd - saw him several yrs ago with friends didn't think it was going to be 'my cup of tea' how wrong can you be what an incredible entertainer - they had to get him of stage it was nearly midnight!May see you in Malta in October!
