I Can Not Stop Thinking of You

Thinking of you I can’t stop thinking of you. And your wind-blown hair Shining in the night breeze. Your pretty blue eyes Reflecting heaven’s stars, While looking my way, Inviting tomorrow, Still embracing today. Strangers one night Strolling amid a crowd The tide rinsing bare feet. Two silhouettes prancing Silent excitement. Eyes dancing connect. Inviting tomorrow, Still clinching today. Thinking of you I can’t stop thinking of you. Fireworks bursting. Heat flashing in the dark, While soft-spoken dreams Echo to forever. Alive and magical Our souls connected. Thinking of you I can’t stop thinking of you. Today brings tomorrows. Merriment waning. Now, alone, my time passes. Come, Fourth of July, Please say you’ll meet again! Please say you’ll hold me again. Thinking of you I can’t stop thinking of you. Oh, Fourth of July, I can’t stop thinking of you. Please say you’ll meet me again... Please say you’ll meet me again... Please say you’ll meet me again. I enjoyed writing for your contest. When I wrote it, I heard music in my head...if only I wrote music. I used to record songs on cassett tapes so I could remember the tunes. Thank you for picking me to be included among the winners. Big Smiles, Dane Ann

Thanks for stopping by Deb and for letting me know that you like my poem a lot. Sometimes I worry when I write non-rhyming poems, which is somewhat difficult for me. Perhaps because they focus more on content than form...and content can become very personal at times. I hope life is going well with you and yours. It was nice to see you back on facebook, recently. Big Smiles.

this is so lyrical and with that repeating line, I am thinking, is it for that song contest? it's a lovely and romantic poem, and thanks for telling me of your reunion. It would be great to live to 103 but only if one were healthy!!

Yes, it is for Sheri's contest. Thanks for your uplifting comment. Big Smiles, Dane PS My great-aunt lived at home and worked around her farm until she was 100 and fell, breaking her hip. The remainder of her days were spent in a small town nursing home with daily visits from her children, weekend visits and Sunday dinners at her home. She was loved and gave love to MANY.)
