I Am Lost

I am lost... I am lost… wandering aimlessly among towering pines, sweeping branches of shaded bliss leaving pine cone markers along a soft needled path The breeze is cool, fragrant wisps through clinging vines braided in abstract patterns as I try to gather my bearings I can see the sun through the forest falling lower in the sky (west) reflecting on the calm flowing waters of this small stream I have been following for what seems to be hours Carp and minnows, orange, black and gray swim happily with little care though I am becoming worried now, my body aches from walking but it feels good, the air is still and sweet as I hear an owl in the darkness of the treed canopy greeting me I come to a clearing, tall grasses sway and I see the sunset blooming like a prized rose, petals awash in bright pastels on the distant horizon, my mind lingers as euphoria caresses me in a panoramic utopia I sit for a spell gazing upon the wonders of nature, thinking back on what I have seen, what I have experienced and what I am witnessing right now and finally realize I am not lost at all… I am found

Hello Chris. Of course you've been found. The beauty of nature you witness finds and captures you. As it does to us all. Allow me to say you are blessed to know when you are in the presence of beauty and know the moment you are witnessing her. Beautiful poetry in its entirety. Honestly. PS: now for the lost portion and essence is yes you are because you are within the spell of glory. How's that for the flip side yet true meaning (lol) Have a wonderful afternoon. I will be back later.

Thank you so much my friend for all of the kindness you always show to me. There is no better place to be lost and then found again as there is in nature. When surrounded by such amazing beauty, to become lost is easy and fun and definitely eye opening. I am happy you found this one Lisa.

Ever the optimist, I did get caught up in the scene at the start, but knew you'd find your way. Another wonderful way with words that you have. ... Brilliant as always..... Maria 7++

Wonderfully written, what a beautiful place to get lost, among God's creation, better place to be found! Loved this one so much!

Ok Chris, now this is really weird. I was going to write a poem called lost in the shadows today (and include shadows of the trees) and haven't put it together yet, then came here to read this. This reminded me of it - same wavelength. But you have done this so well and ended it superbly !!:)

Thanks so much Heidi, and that is not as weird as it seems, if you think back a few months, I believe we went through this on a few different poems where our minds seemed to be poetically linked. It's fun when that happens. :)

It's almost as if in the very beginning your narrator has found himself in the beauty of his surroundings, so the end didn't surprise me :) A lovely nature write! Love, Juli-Michelle

A wonderful tale in this adventure, Chris. Many people would realize it's easy to find ourselves if we just stop and look around. My thought was, "Oh no. Chris used breadcrumbs to mark his way...ala Hansel and Gretl, but you are much too wise for that.

Well, I did take some with me to use for just that reason but I got hungry. :) Thank so much Lin. I appreciate you taking the time to read and comment on my poem.

Sometimes all we need is a beautiful walk alone with nature to reflect and find ourselves :) The 'soft needled path' sounds lovely

Thank you so much Lenna. I was hoping you would find this one and like it. It was inspired by your poem "Beauty Grand" that I read the other day. That poem has stuck with me. Thank you again my friend.

Love it! I can just see the beautiful forest; feel that breeze; smell the freshness; and hear the babbling brook. Is there anything better than a walk among God's creation with all those cute creatures. But, being lost there could be terrifying. So glad you are "found"...within the beauty of nature.

This actually happened to me once a long time ago and indeed, being lost like that is no picnic. Talk about feeling helpless. Thank you my friend for your kind words and for enjoying this piece so much.
