I Am a Goddess
I am a goddess, sometimes arriving
with gusty winds blowing.
It’s always in March; those who await me
always are knowing
shortly thereafter, seeds that are planted
will surely be growing!
The most fertile goddess, later in April,
I reign. Yes, THAT I do!
I send down showers – some heavy, some not -
as I “reign” over you!
And lightly I touch new buds in morning
with sweet lingering dew.
In May I am merry, rarely contrary.
My friend Sun loves me so.
The firstlings and birdlings; creatures and plants,
more and more you’ll see grow.
Bye bye to drudgery; even perhaps
a last farewell to snow!
I see summer coming; after mid-June,
soon I’ll be bowing out.
Newlyweds love me; school’s out, so the kids
no longer have to pout.
My last day’s my longest, but I will return
nine months from now. . .no doubt!
