I Am a Cat

Look at me
I am a cat
Iam lithe and lean
An acrobat machine
Nothing is too hard for me
I can walk the tight rope and look down upon the world
Don't you wish you could see what I see?
I have vision
I see far and wide
I know what is coming before you do
But I don't care
Because I am a cat
I do care about that mouse down there
I will gracefully dismount the high place
And study you, mouse!
I shall lay in wait
I am patient
I am goal oriented
I will corner you
And toy with you
Exhaust you
And then I will eat you
You are what I care about
What's right in front of me
I am a cat

A cat's innate nature and its focus on the mouse that comes before it are beautifully stated. The cat's address to the mouse I really enjoyed. "I am patient, I am goal oriented, I will corner you, And toy with you, Exhaust you, And then I will eat you."A cute poem. Thanks Mona for your visit to my page.

Hi Valsa! Thank you for the feedback! I really got a lot of personal satisfaction when I wrote "I am a Cat". I think that is why I love poetry so... It comes with great satisfaction, whether writing my own, or reading others. What a great contribution it has been in my life, and I would imagine countless others too. I hope you have a wonderful day and that we continue to interact with one another.

Hello Mystic Rose... I finally figured out how to navigate to where I can reply to the comments I received. I have been busy to respond to each one now that I am able to. I have had my share of heartache and joy with cats. Lapis is a beautiful name. I love the stone... Thank you

I like this! Reminds me of the time a neighbor's cat killed our sweet parakeet. It snuck in.

Interesting comment, Karen... made me chuckle. However, I am sorry for the loss of your parakeet. Thank you for your comment. I hope your day is incredible.
