Humanhood
Dedicated to the memory of those who take their own lives. Theirs is a special hell that we cannot fathom. Please take care of yourself and your loved ones.
Humanhood

You asked me to
Be brave and hold on
And I did
Just for you
But then the darkness
Came round again
And brought down
The curtains to my soul
Like a play ending
Before we take our bows
Like the exit pending
Of all the people
Who clapped and glowed
Like the last embers
Of a warm fire
I felt life draining
Leaving me to die
I sat in the dark
I sat in the cold
I sat all alone
You couldn't join me here
Here where the
Dead things are
Where no mortal goes
We sit and wait for
The Ferryman to show
Signaled by Death*
He comes for us
His boat on the River Styx
Is set on a course
To the Underworld
I don't want to stay here
All alone in this dark, cold night
My sacred soul left to fend off
Howling demons
But, I don't want to go with him
For Death wants me badly
And the Underworld beckons
And the Ferryman is impatient
And my life
Has ended
So what now?
You asked me to
Be brave and hold on
And I did
Just for you
But hope and faith
Are luxuries I gave up
When my mind turned
Against me
And left me with Death
He, such sweet talker
Convinced me to fall
Into His arms and
Embrace eternal rest
For my soul is tired
My heart has stopped
To rest now, and I
Find my mind
Is peaceful
"So what now?" becomes
Rest in peace
For good
Until the next time
I try this journey through
Humanhood
