How Much Is Too Much
How Much Is Too Much?
Poem arranged by Elton Camp
I can’t say it’s true, but from what I hear
A certain CEO made 137 million last year
It’d take over 9,000 years at minimum wage
Which makes some workers feel outrage
And in the case of a worker at median pay
It would take 3,489 years to do that way
If that CEO works for a sixty hour week
Then it’s $732 a minute that he’d seek
It is almost $44,000 he makes in an hour
Oh my goodness, he must feel such power
Of course, most CEOs are not paid that well
The median is under ten million I hear tell
It’d take 244 years at the median pay
To finally cash in that extravagant way
That’s twelve times the president’s income
If he wasn’t rich, it’d make him feel glum
Surely that’s too much for anybody to get
Why don’t the stockholders all have a fit
A final note: In the case of the highest paid CEO, add the pay of Obama, Biden, the cabinet, the Supreme Court justices, all members of Congress and all fifty governors
and he makes much more than all of them combined. In fact it is more than the top
600 leaders of the country. (All figures taken from a report by the Associated Press)
