How Long It Took
She says God created the world in seven days
I will admit that God certainly has his or her ways,
But science clearly shows it took billions of years
To form fossils, coal, diamonds and, I think, tears.
So, I respond to her thinking with a glint in my eye,
I can’t change her opinion no matter how hard I try.
So, I believe the universe is much older than this…
Than the Bible seems to indicate back in Genesis.
We will be arguing this point until the end of time
She is clearly set in her opinion, so am I in mine,
But no matter how much we argue and disagree
Her archaic way of thinking will never satisfy me.
I have accepted that she has a right to her opine
If she allows me plenty of space to have mine!
