How I Really Feel About Christmas

"before time was invented, God had a plan to birth a son- the angel appeared and no man was feared, the star proved Jesus was the one" ~ beyond the niceties of Christmas resides a place where gratitude is no longer as precious, material wealth becomes a need, love not felt, just the emptiness from what was once regarded as sacred i too have been caught up in the giving- all wrapped up in pretty paper with sparkly ribbon holding my soul firmly; for even i must make sure i don’t lose myself in the maze of what matters not i patiently await the day the world appreciates peace not gold during what is meant to be the most EXCEPTIONAL day of the year- ~ beyond the niceties of Christmas resides a hole in the core of my heart- nine years ago was the worst of them all; it was her last holiday spent with us, for her farewell letter was written sooner than expected, and i was left alone and neglected- time heals not the wounds i wear, but as years pass the compassion God gives keeps me protected ~ may i embrace thoughts of healing so that my heart can see- the finer niceties of Christmas ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1.8.20 BEYOND THE NICETIES OF CHRISTMAS Poetry Contest Bobbie Burns
