Honest Dan's Used Cars
Honest Dan’s Used Cars
By Elton Camp
Should you really buy a used car from this man?
He’s dressed well and smiles, that Honest Dan
Cars on his lot are clean, low-mileage, and neat
And he’ll assure you that his deal can’t be beat
From his odometers, Dan makes miles disappear
So that the total looks nice and low for the year
This adds much value to the one who does sell,
For the buyer it’s a mechanical and financial hell
Some of his cars insurance companies totaled out
That they belong in the junk yard there’s no doubt
But they were reconstructed, put onto the road again
But they’ll never be a vehicle on which to depend
Other are on his lot because the state’s Lemon Law
When they were new—the worst cars you ever saw
The manufacturers were required to refund the money
But to look at them, you would think you see a honey
Some of his cars were severely damaged in a flood
But were cleaned of stains, odor, mildew and mud
What they went through you are unlikely to detect
But when problems return, too late you’ll suspect
Because they’re stolen, some a legitimate title lack
If the owner finds it, then he can legally take it back
So anytime you buy a used car, take the greatest care
And remember the old saying, “Let the buyer beware.”
