Home Alone
Home Alone

I won’t swim in a sea of unsolicited voices,
Withholding a response remains one of my choices.
By fax, phone, and doorbell, voices often come,
Screening calls is now my current rule of thumb.
To our front door, a no soliciting sign is attached,
They begin their delivery and immediately I’m detached.
Most everyone assumes the sign means the next guy,
And should I get upset, they can’t understand why.
No, don’t seem acceptable to some who visit our door,
Those trying urgently to sway me are the ones I abhor.
They act as if my speech is in an unknown tongue,
And once a song has been sung, it can’t be unsung.
In spite of believing persistence, is the key to a sale,
They leave feeling like failures when forced to bail.
