Hold the Applause

spotlight breathes
dances
fist of faces
flashing
in a dingy bar
where we all are
the world
corralled
managing
on a fiesta of pita chips
with everything hummus
plus pectin gummies
since brunch
these little guts
in dystopia
and it's not
the touch of hunger
inspiring ulcers
but their pink punchbowls of hate
better call an ark
when primal peers
learn
you drive that PETA wagon
subtracting territory
from their matchbox
parking lot
and no "Fast Car"
in your setlist:
strange flamingo
