Hiss-tory
He spreads his wings and asks sympathy for his plight
He laughs but can't get ’cha if you put up a fight
But to get the whole picture
Let us look to Scripture
To find out about this guised angel of light
Day star you have fallen from the skies
You are the lord of the flies
Once anointed cherub
Prince of the power of the air thereof
The father of lies
Murderer, enemy and tempter
Dragon, the old serpent and salvation’s preemptor
Accuser of God’s people
Upside-down cross on your steeple
Uncle Screwtape was your mentor
Oh Satan you kleine duivel
When it comes to evil you have no rival
He will assail this kirk
As a sifting watchdog of the church
He’ll do anything, anything heinous to maintain his survival
Do not rail against him
The one who pales in comparison
As Jesus saw him fall
Like lightning from a pall
Luther said one little word shall fell him
The hiss-tory of this snake
Is evident in mistake after mistake
But when we assail
The gates of hell will not prevail
Against the war we will make for God’s sake
It is said that the Devil's greatest trick
Is to convince the world he doesn't exist
Well, ask Job what he thinks
About the Devil's hijinks
He'll tell you that the devil persists
(The ninth circle, Virgil and Dante the passersby
We find where Satan is tied
We also find Cain and Judas
Cassius and Brutus
And where all treacherous souls reside)
He’s one of the unholy trinities
Satan, the Antichrist, and the False Prophecies
From these three we flee
And the world’s philosophy
And all things that don’t engender peace
And it is peace as the final endeavor
Even Satan is not this clever
God dying in our place, He kept the law in pace (WHAT GRACE!)
Something the devil didn’t contemplate
This Jesus has secured us forever
