Notes About The Poem

Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia - Don'T Let the Title Put You Off Reading

The sponsor chose words I’ve never heard of before So if I don’t win the contest I’ll declare he’s a bore It’s axiomatic that I’ve an altruistic attitude But I don’t give a fig if folks think that I’m rude! I’ll sign a declaration of my asseveration Then bare my teeth like an angry Alsatian! Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia is the fear of long words Is this word some kind of cynical joke aimed at dim witted nerds! REQUIRED WORDS axiomatic, altruistic, asseveration Tongue firmly in cheek poem for contest Triple A Challenge Sponsored by Robert Haigh 4/15/18

This poem is such a winner, the contest should be renamed "The Jan Allison Triple A Challenge." ---Well, maybe not; that wouldn't be fair to the rest of us slummers. But, my gawd, this is TERRIFIC! Jan, you've really done it this time! :) gw

Thanks Paul, you know me lol I try and write with humour when I can. I wasn't going to enter the contest as i found the words uninspiring but I wrote the first 3 stanzas last night and posted them, then googled to see if there was a phobia of long words and I was well rewarded lol:-) love to you and all the family:-) hugs jan xx

I wrote the first three stanzas and posted it then wondered if there really was a fear of long words and the word for the phobia had to be added to the poem lol:-) I just hope the sponsor has a good sense of humour!:-) hugs Jan xx
