Hillbilly Telephone
Well, here's another story
That's just not that known
About the world's first invention
Of the telephone
They say a guy named Bell
Is the father of the call
Well, that's just a myth
It's not true at all
Before they put them wires on a pole
We'd just shimmy up a tree
They'd hear me holler five miles away
Back then, the call was free
And if we had to call long distance
We'd send it by word of mouth
I'd tell cousin Zeb to tell cousin Mable
The biggest chatter box in the south
We even had the first party line
Tho that was not it's name
We just called it an argument
Til we found someone to blame
Well, that's the story of the world's first phone
And everything I said is true
And if you have anymore questions at all
Don't call us, now, we'll call you
