Hey Dad

HEY DAD My dad and I were always close, As he passed by he’d pinch my nose, I always looked upon him with pride, His tender nature he could not hide. He had many friends and no foes He used to love teasing me And tickling my toes! An army man, he was most of his life, Posted to many countries with his Child and wife, His stars and medals he deservedly wore, A committed army officer to the core, I know he’s happy I followed my grand-fathers cue, And quite delighted that I’m Writing poetry too, My father showed his love, With his every pore, And I know he would encourage Me to write more, and more. He always wanted me to join a group, Hope he knows I am with poetry soup!

Thank-you for a really wonderful comment Charles, and a special thank-you that you thanked him for serving. The two of us had a close bond and when we lost him, I was devastated, but his character, loving nature and looks live on in his grandson! A Blessed Christmas to you and yours Charles. Best wishes, Jennifer.

What a fabulous, awe inspiring poem about your Dad. I definitely know he is bragging about his daughter's poems in Heaven. He can be a proud Dad to have a daughter that has pushed boundaries and found her love for writing poems that are touching hundreds of people. Kim

Hi Jennifer. I figure if I am going to whine about it and you are nice enough to comment on my poem, I might as well practice what I preach and come read you. This was wonderful and I love hearing about the relationship between you and your father. And I will bet he knows you are on soup and he is smiling because of all the new friends you have made and the wonderful poetry you are writing.

Tenderly written with love and respect for your father, Jennifer. Of course he approves of the way you express and share your feelings in poetry. My father was much like yours, so I really relate to the feelings you expressed so beautifully. Hugs, Carolyn

Thank-you Carolyn, glad our father both encouraged us with our poetry, as here we are today, commenting on each others poems, seems they wanted us to communicate! A heart-felt comment, from a fellow poetess whom I greatly respect! xoxo, Jennifer.

Hello my new and good friend, I feel I have been communicating with you all my life! Most of us are and were blessed to have the parents we had and have, but how many children, in war torn countries, have been ripped away from their parents and how many parents who are alcoholics or abusing and using drugs do not even know that they have children as their are continuously high! I have written a poem about a young girl who is a drug, user and abuser, but just have to edit it again. God bless, xoxo, Jennifer.

Jennifer, he knows, and he is running around there like mad today showing off his daughter's poetry. They are all cheering like mad, toasting you with happy drinks, and tickling each other's toes.

Thank-you Karen, You always make me laugh either with your comments of with some of you more frivolous poems - you have missed your vocation, you would have millions being a comedian on stage. you are naturally witty! thank-you and take care, xoxo, Jennifer

I can't imagine that any Dad could be prouder of his daughter than your Dad is of you---just as you are, rightly!, so proud of him. Gosh, I'm insanely jealous (but in a positive way). Wonderful tribute, Jennifer! :) gw

Hi Gershon, I loved your comment - thank-you Gershon. He was a very special dad, and for the first couple of years until I started school I was the son he never had, but things reversed themselves around very quickly when I began my schooling, and he was the first parent to give in to any of my girly requests! Best wishes always, Jennifer.
