Notes About The Poem

He's Never Given Me Roses

Oh why oh why did I propose … In twenty-six years not even a rose! It was me who knelt down by the side of the bed Suggested to you it was time we got wed Both of us were footloose and fancy free On Valentine’s Day I asked YOU if you’d marry me You cracked a smile and I must confess I was thrilled when you answered me ‘yes’ Twenty-six years we’ve been together Our marriage vows will last forever We’ve never ever celebrated Valentines Day But there are three little words I want to say I’ll let the whole world know that I LOVE YOU These words are true and I know you love me too By the way ...this poem is true! 01~22~15 Contest: Magic Kisses and Valentines Wishes Sponsor Mystic Rose

Jan - re. yours of today. In France, roses are cheap to purchase on Valentine's Day. Hugs, Julia, xx

Jan - Why don't you say "I'd love some roses" near to the time of the next Valentine's Day? Some men need a gentle nudge. --- Hugs, Julia

Jan, this poem, as with many others you have composed, overflows with charm. It also serves as a timely reminder that I've got to come up with something more than a box of chocolates for "Mrs. Paul." Thank you.

:) My mom as well never received any roses as far as I remember but I saw like the simple gesture my papa does that really won my mama's heart.. :) cooking for her breakfast, talking to her late nights etc.. :) roses are just bonus but little most basic gestures that are wow!>. :) love the humor within the lines but the sincere words incorporated in it are wow.. :)! hugs much!>. :)

G'day Jan... Very nice romantic poem Jan that I as a bloke should heed. I gave my wife a rose bush so if I forget, there's plenty to pick. The bloke across the road asked his now ex-wife what flower she'd prefer... was it self raising or plain? Regards - Lindsay

This is so sweet, Jan. You're a gutsy woman. I'm so proud of you for popping the question! Aren't you the best! :) The beauty of the poem is that it's true. Hubby isn't the romantic type either, though he did wire a long stemmed red rose to me for Valentine's when I was in the States and he in Lebanon. The best of his romance is when he comes looking for me in the mornings. He likes having me beside him when he wakes up. I guess...we need to know their love language. Hugs

Barbara Streisand and Neil Diamond might have something to say about gifting flowers. Lovely Jan, I was blown away by the fact that is all true. Very romantic. Maybe I try to hard. I have put together gift baskets with even the container reflecting a love of that particular woman. I listen and watch everyday so that when I put her gift together it is everything she loves all in one basket. I think your hubbie has the right idea. A Fav!
