Heroes
He doesn't think of himself as a champion
Told me once he's an anti-hero
but he's a warrior to me because I know
although he doesn't wear a cape,
I remember when he placed his trust in me.
He would never admit to being a knight
I've never seen him riding a white horse
but he's a hero to me because I know
although he doesn't wear chain maille and armor,
I remember when he stood in defense of me.
He will never answer to the name, 'paladin'
Not the type to take credit for chivalry
but he's a brave man to me because I know
although he doesn't wear a gun like Jesse James,
I remember the duels he fought for my sake.
He won't ever take credit for being a crutch
His steadfast hand held me up
but he's the shoulder I needed because I know
although he doesn't wear a badge of mercy,
I remember the weeks he spent at my side.
