Helplessly - Hopelessy

We have our trials, but there are some souls who never get too far. They barely even learned to crawl. Helplessly - hopelessly - they fall. The homeless and the addict who inhabit streets; what can they do? Some live a storm that has no lull. Helplessly - hopelessly - they fall. The wife abused, the poor child born to messed up folks, and the forlorn - They’re pressed against a stone cold wall. Helplessly - hopelessly - they fall. How difficult for those who thrive to comprehend such tragic lives. Before they’re shrouded by their pall, helplessly - hopelessly - they fall. A sad commentary without a solution. I would have titled it, They Fall. Nice, Andrea....

'Before they’re shrouded by their pall' and 'They’re pressed against a stone cold wall' were my favorite lines among many...Also loved your use of alliteration 'Helplessly - hopelessly' in the refrain...BIG congrats - Tim

A very expressive poem where the refrain sums it all up. Many of us have it so good, and yet we do not realize or even get near to appreciate it! Congrats on your win, Andrea. // paul

Reality in all the ways of those who helplessly-hopelessly-fall. An acute observation and a heart felt adoration. Good luck in the contest, my lovely friend. Loved always, bl

Really putting a light on the way life is for some other people in adverse situations Andrea..' you have well portrayed the haphazard way of things yet also the driving consistency of untoward events and effects that push down on them..'

When shadows start to be your friend, it will always feel like it's the end. And maybe you don't feel alive. But with some help you can survive. As Jesus said so long ago. Do for the least because you know. He'll do for you when it's time to go. So much of your heart went into this Andrea. And in turn, touch's our hearts. Peace. :)

This poem reveals your heart, it is good to bring people's attention to the struggles of others. So many merely walk by those in distress. We fail to realize that at any time we could be them.
