Help me please! I'm a kid, and I'm confused. Something's wrong with me - I like to run wild and free 'neath the sun, And climb a willow tree. I ask too many questions, that I know. Tell me, you are grown up - Why I can't focus on spelling or math Instead of my dog's new pup? I'd rather throw sticks to Rex in a field Of tall and wavy grass, Or stroke a new kitten's soft fuzzy fur Than sit at my desk in class. Like the willow that dwells wild in the field My limbs are growing fast. My brain is sprouting some new branches too, Not to be surpassed. I'd like to be a wild fox or a deer - Not a bull or a cow, But dad says animals are useful when They give milk or pull a plough, Plants are useful when they grow up in rows, But I say this, I'm not proud - I like the scattered way they are before Those lovely fields get ploughed. I want to be useful just like my dad, So, in my desk I sit, But my brain's still out in the sun and wind, I just cannot control it. After school, I have lots of activities, without even a break, Supervised by skillful adults who can Keep me from making mistakes. Is there a way for me to get better, Or medicine for me, So I can be like my hard-working dad And join society? Thank you, sir, I don't have any more questions. I'm OK - I've had my pill. Just let me know what I need to do, And I'll do it sir, I will.

You definitely have skill at telling a story with rhyme. This poem was engaging from beginning to end...the boy in the story reminds me of my husband and one of our grandsons. Perhaps they're OCD...but they definitely prefer being in the sun...not sitting at a desk...even now my husband is fidgety. I appreciate your poetic style and you sharing it with us. enjoy your evening, Sara

Thanks Sara. I was speaking not from any kind of knowledge, so I might not know what's right, but just from my heart - the way I feel about some of the kids who come in for math tutoring where I work part-time for fun. Some are on medication for attention deficit disorder, and I sometimes feel they just need a break.
