Notes About The Poem

March 28, 2026 No Kings protest in Connecticut. My sign (not shown) depicts Trump and Hitler together with the phrase "Deja Vu?" as a question. On the way to the protest on Greenwich Avenue, a friend and I were stopped by a woman who objected to my sign. She said it degrades the seriousness of the WWII holocaust. A worker from the establishment we were walking in front of came out and told us we were disturbing her customers, and we should leave. This is what happens when constitutional rights conflict with shopping rights. The richest towns in our country and some of our richest people are comfortable separating themselves from the authoritarianism that affects many of us. When we reached the main gathering space, I stood next to the woman and sign depicted just below.

hedge fund managers live here

As part of our dissent-day hitch
We staged a protest in Greenwich
While one of this town
Tried putting us down
It’s great seeing people so rich

I'd like to be one of those rich people. You mentioned your mom died. One of my sisters died. She had a stroke, and after that, it was like she wasn't even here anymore. So I said a prayer for the angels & my mom to come get her. Two days later, on March 4th, she died. I hope your world is awesome.

Debbie, at least she didn't suffer for long. That is a good thing though the sadness of death can affect us. Sometimes, when I read things associated with my mom, I have to stop because it's too painful and generates tears. BTW, money can help us all to a point...if we have food, health care, and shelter, then we're in pretty good shape. I think finding entertainment and satisfaction during life depends a lot on being able to be with and get along with others in a calm and thoughtful manner. I do hope you are well and send you smiles. Your kindness and compassion shine!!! Take care!!!!

Your sarcastic humour is shown here in this limerick... what an unfair world we live in.. so why not just laugh... I hope we all can be rich... but its not always money that makes us rich, although it does make the world go around, sadly... Hope all is well with you my friend...

Wise you are silent one. We can only try to bring some fairness in our own small way. Life is fragile, but it only makes me feel extremely lucky that I can feel some general warmth internally. You are so right that we can at least laugh about it sometimes!! Sending smiles!!

Well said, funny some feel free speech against their views is not free speech, but that's how it is! Imagine speaking up against Genocide and being called a hater here! Oh well a keefy fan I guess.

We came face to face with a few Trumpsters as well, dear Duke. Made it more worth the walk, I wrote about it. I think the sign says it all! Spring blessings

Thanks Anaya. I'll take a look. It is all quite shock sometimes when confrontation happens. I always try to stay calm since everyone can have an opinion. Take care and smiles!!!

Free speech is only allowed if what’s being said is agreeable to everyone who can hear it. But money talks and many squawk as if rights are non existent. It’s great to see you posting again. Be careful among the crowd, Duke.

Hi Lin...yes I am often worried a bit about what may happen at these demonstrations. So far, so good! My son suggested I wear a body cam and that way I can post video of some of the funny and strange things that happen during these events.

What happened to free speech, ? Amazes me how these so called 'kings' get to power. He'll always be known as the Teflon king. Hope you're keeping well Duke. Tom

Hi Tom...somehow I missed responding to your comment here, and I apologize for that. I am becoming scatterbrained!! A person in part of town near the protest I was going to, saw my sign while we were walking to our destination. She had to tell me how offensive my message is. Since I get accosted every so often, I decided to put a rebuttal on the reverse side of the poster I carry that includes an image of the poster pictured above. I am a bit numb from all the crazy experiences I've faced. I am planning to get a camera that records conversations so I can post those videos here. That will be really something indeed. We're glad the insane king stepped back from the brink yesterday. However, we're still grimacing. Smiles!
