Heartbroken

“I know my heart will never be the same
But I'm telling myself I'll be okay”
Sara Evans

My heart no longer
beats the same,
as I’ve wiped away
tainted tints on
vain valves.
Bleeding out
shattered dreams.
Colors of fallen
needle-shaped leaves,
emanate shades
of memories,
lost along a clamor of
fragmented pieces,
where linchen-dusted lies
confused my
flower-patterned spirit,
adrift in a pastoral
landscape of melancholy,
scumbled in roseate oil,
calligraphed from
the fragrance of
forget-me-nots,
but sunflowers no
longer bloom,
although I still
see a thread
of salvation
surfing through the
airy breeze that hides
behind green
grass across
untouched,
yet butterfly nested
water mountains.
I chose to be
content alone,
with me and my
heartbroken bliss,
over passionate
petal-like serenades,
that caressed
my midnight blues.

So, forgive the stars,
named with our love,
as I bid
farewell to half-adorned
illustrations
of a perfect sunrise,
stolen by the past
that always punished me,
with trust issues,
obscured in somber clouds
that follow my
silhouette, faithfully.

I too am left heartbroken as I see you drifting through the 'pastoral landscape of melancholy' where 'sunflowers do not bloom.' Half way on seeing 'a thread of salvation', I thought there was some hope. But with your farewell to a perfect sunrise, stolen by the past, that punishes you and leaves you helpless with obscured clouds hovering over you, I feel once again sad. Empress I do not know how to respond to your poem.Your imagery is so touching and from within a gush of lugubrious feelings spurt out! GREAT..... GORGEOUS!

Oh heartache. Like a ghost haunting us. This is a beautiful yet tearful write. Losing someone we have loved and still perhaps love, tests us to the core. Your poetry captures that shared experience and is gorgeous for it :))

I can definitely resonate with this piece, when past experiences imprint our faith with stains of darkness and reward us with the unfortunate gift of trust issues..Those pastel sunsets, looking beautiful, still seem incomplete because of the uncertainty & burdens that we carry.. Forever keeping us heart broken in one shape or the other. Sigh, a breathtaking poem and everything here is favourite for me..Really a brilliant take for the contest, dear Ink! And the quote too goes so well~ the opening

Is really WOW "My heart no longer beats the same, as I’ve wiped away tainted tints on vain valves" That's really evocative! "behind green grass across untouched, yet butterfly nested water mountains" So many impeccable lines here.. Gosh! Your descriptions and imageries all weave a poignant tale together.. Still adorned with poetic gorgeousness.. Love this so much!!

Aw dear ink, "colors of fallen needle shaped leaves", " linchen-dusted lies confused my flower patterned spirit ", " calligraphed from the fragrance of forget me nots"... "forgive the stars named with our love"...such an excellence of creativity this is, my friend.. and the ending three lines... in every way this is a gem of a creation from a talented ink. Ahhh..I resonate on so many levels with this breathtaking piece, my beautiful soul sis..it’s like you spoke my soul language here (though you always do!)! The words you use to create the imagery I swim in, in the deepest depths of your mind, heart and soul..feeling you words so endlessly as i read, again and again..I am at a loss again, with the way you weave such brilliance and raw pain..raw beauty..I’m so awestruck and honored to read you, being on this harsh writing journey with you! Always here, my soul sis! <3

Wow such an emotional writing is brimming with heartfelt feelings that flows seemingly from first to last verse. Your imagery and depth of meaningful words is just awe-inspiring. I really loved the quote that seems actually like a part of the poem for its fit and beauty. Your closing lines are just so straightforward to the point and so poignant. I would like to thank you for the comments left on my page it was so uplifting and it touch my heart.

Heartbroken is the emotion that resonates throughout, Ink, and paints forlorn feelings. But the ending stanza aims for the apex and earns a FAVE from me: ---So, forgive the stars, named with our love, as I bid farewell to half-adorned illustrations of a perfect sunrise, stolen by the past that always punished me...

When we lose something that is dear and close to us, we feel a pain that is not like another.. your poem is full of pain and angst.. I can feel the heartbreak in your words.... I hope this is not your present feelings as no one should hurt like this.. i really loved the ending, where you describe your goodbye bidding farewell to a half adorned sunrise... I think Constance will love this one..
