Heartache

Heartache It happed so long ago, a memory which inhabits the shadow land. She been complaining about a headache, then doctors hospital and her illness was fatal. It happed so quickly it was difficult to take It in. After the funeral there was a reception at the flat we had Shared, her sister had arranged for a cafe to deliver cakes, coffee and sandwiches. Since most of the furniture and ornaments had belonged to her relatives were eying pieces they liked, and touching her dresses. I found this distressing and hoped they would soon leave; they did and left me to do the washing up. In the afternoon I walked along the river when I suddenly sensed her presence, a strong surge, a force of love walked beside me. For weeks she was always there, late at night and in the morning, It gave me strength to continue. Only gradually did she let go, only came back when I was in deep anguish and didn’t know how to get through the day. Then one morning, and it was May, she was gone it was as she was sure now I could cope with life.
