Notes About The Poem

For Unseeking Seeker's Heart gentle, eyes mindful poetry contest.

Heart gentle, Eye mindful

I can offer you sympathy,
try to feel you through empathy.
But if you take it for granted,
silence will be your remedy.

Remember the seeds you planted,
when unnourished will bloom slanted.
Hearts yearn for balanced devotion,
like birds sharing what they chanted.

When there is too much commotion,
tears seem to fall in slow motion.
Will you give my soul an embrace,
try to sense its deep emotion?

Ego only portrays disgrace.
Some actions are hard to replace.
Judgement is harshly negative.
Selflessness should be your showcase.

When the conscience seems tentative,
your heartbeats become expletive.
But if you've helped quench someone's thirst,
the thoughtful become sensitive.

Before the heart and soul immerse,
the eyes observe compassion first.
Awareness brings sweet harmony.
A purpose that should be well versed.

This sounds so lyrical! Youv written a beautiful and meaningful rubaiyat! I love the cadence and rhymes youv chosen and also how youv depicted the prompt line so very eloquently. The opening line made me pause and think as sometimes silence is the best response when one is taken for granted, i agree with that. But my most fave part of the poem is the ending. Awareness brings sweet harmony! True! It does when compassion and empathy is the key to see from ones eyes and mind. Mindfulness and how ego and judgment isnt good and right and can be harsh and how selflessness should be what we showcase, youv reminded us readers of that so well here! I love this! And this form is one i need to try still! Congratulations on your win too

Relationships between your poet friends will definitely vary - whatever the why and how much, what is important is that they read listen and correctly interpret what you are trying to relay to them. A wonderful write as usual Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

SO, this poem excellently explains the basis of a mutual relationship. There are probably a lot of people who can't listen and many others who feel desperate for attention. They could all learn a lot from this. Funny how listening in the end can bring more satisfaction. It's a very hard lesson to learn....the nature of giving and receiving.

Good morning, SO - well it's morning here! Your perceptive observations on life and the moral challenges each person faces are eloquently stated in each stanza, SO. Indeed, compassion is the first step as "awareness brings sweet harmony." I love your choice of the rubaiyat form - a poem within a poem - so skillfully written. Your rhyme scheme is fresh as each stanza touches on the soul's universal battle between ego and selflessness. Best wishes for the contest. Blessings to you!

Your last verse is the summary of the whole poem. So true that we do lack compassion at times. Most pray for riches ignoring the needy ones.

Empathy is a fundamental human quality that allows us to understand and share the feelings of others. It is a powerful force that fosters connection, compassion, and understanding in our interactions with one another. It is essential for building meaningful relationships and creating a supportive and inclusive society. Therefore, it is simperative that we recognize the significance of empathy and actively cultivate it in ourselves and others. I know you possess this powerful quality S1 and always such a support to others. Great flow of inspiration.. Hug

Lovely piece entirely and I love the last stanza. Because we are kind-hearted and we love too much doesn't give people the need to take it for granted. We still have boundaries and they'll come in when kindness or love is breached. "Will you give my soul an embrace, try to sense its deep emotion?" A soul embrace is what I need now. Cheers, dear Silent.
