He Can Have It, Too
So, our tireless breath’s intertwined, for years;
Skin touching skin; a soul to soul; kept enjoyin’
The still silence of each night, a dark and wary;
Yet, before the first cockcrow could even come,
Again, the tears of loneliness wetted the pillows.
Oh dear, I must leave you; wish I not to be seen
By the rising sun, it’s not because I don’t like it;
You do know how I love, that our naked bodies,
Be spotted, by that great morning orb; but, it is
Simply the goddess has not released me, not yet.
At last today, I wrote us in the holy book of love
When we meet the first cockcrow being together;
And, that smiling orb has sighted us, too, naked;
The goddess, perhaps, felt that I wasn’t, a guilty;
That she’s turned your sufferings into joy. Alas!
Now, I don’t have to leave you; no more crying,
Nor pain, as we wait dawn, to welcome our first;
Happily I say to you, you sure have my surname;
Our child, he can have it, too; without any doubt
In mind, I am finally doing the right thing, for us.
