Hazel Green
Hazel Green
Of all the jewels that I possess
there are two gems I love the best;
of diamonds, rubies, topaz, too,
and other stones of white or blue.
For when into the mirror I stare
I see two "living gems" so rare.
Lovelier stones I've never seen
than Daddy's eyes of hazel green.
My dad's been gone about a year
and when I need to have him near
I look into the glass and see
that I see him, and he sees me.
And 'though it's true I miss him much
to hear his voice and feel his touch,
at least I have this gift so keen,
my Daddy's eyes of hazel green.
