Having a Bonfire
Stars twinkle in the sky
A gentle breeze tousles the hair
And without a care
We roast marshmallows
Over a bonfire
Gazing into the flame
Caught in a trance
The crackle and pop
A fragrant memory
In my head
Laughter all around
Other times
Lamenting lost loved ones
A perplexing dance
Of joy and sorrow
A coyote calls
An owl hoots
And cats squabble elsewhere
Next to the bonfire
A new core memory is achieved
