Haven My Soul

As for me, I may no more be To rise with the sun when dawn wakes, Or close mine eyes when the inward light shineth naught, no more! And days dark as dark, faded doth all eyes hath seen. I may no more be when all things is past, To see the leaping sun die at last, I may no more be to see the glistening stars rust! Nor the bereavement of moon’s lust… But I trust God’s hands softly to astutely haven my soul To lay me a rest more peaceful. My way lengthened long and longer into deaths embody, I die when I’m dying, I’m dead! Down in the dumps nearing my end, It’s your will, Lord of hosts! Haven my soul therefore For I would have loved to live and live long enough. Haven my soul O Lord!
