High on a passing cloud there floats a dream Never to be easily forgotten, Devious destiny weaved its fierce scheme, Turned my youth into a life so rotten. The soft song of a Summer Breeze was gone, But by then we had met and love had won. How oft we trekked the hills and watched the dawn. How oft we made love, happy so well done. Carefree we roamed out our romantic days, Many noticed silhouettes in moonlight. How could I not shower her with sweet praise? Alas she had cancer, love turned to plight. The gilded leaves of autumn sigh her loss. Her funeral I bore with a harsh cross.

A beautiful nostalgic sonnet Victor, a love like yours will never die as long as on passing clouds a dream floats by… Hugs, Belle

Oh Victor. We never really get over losing a loved one. But time really will deaden the pain somewhat. Just remember the fun times and thank The Good Lord for allowing you that time together. God Bless, JB

Oh, Victor, this is very nice. I presume you rarely write sonnets. Sorry I passed it up. I was just clicking on different poems the other day quickly and not paying attention much to the type of poems they were. You wrote your sonnet very well. The ending couplet is sad and sublime. It's the key to good sonnets, having an excellent ending couplet.

Victor! Your Sonnet is great with lots of beautiful lines. An elegant metaphor that clearly and powerfully conveys a great deal of feeling. Dreams float on passing clouds. Losing a loved one is painful.

This is superb, Victor. Wonderfully emotive in metaphoric words: High on a passing cloud there floats a dream----The soft song of a Summer Breeze was gone...Your gifted pen shines again. Into my FAVES.
