Hateful Crater

the hard oak began to splinter, sliding beneath worn skin. The numbing takes some of the pain away. rivers of sweat breech softened skin, tears glaze my cheek before jumping into the abyss. stained steel- broken down to spoon- mixes fluids into dirt. my own melting pot. ( I am the rabbit waiting for the strip to fade black) both knees break free and fall into stew. left hand loosens its grip on the handle. landing face up reflecting a distorted face I once called my own. the dirt begins to fall, scattering within this crater. No more stew, it’s all dried out. wish I could see the dawn peak its head and say hello, but the mounds now cover my view. take my last breath. the sunlight numbs the pain.
