Harvest of Gold

It's wonderfully warm over an underlying chill-
Gold on royal blue skies gives such a thrill!
As red and gold leaves float gaily anywhere.
And scarecrows move excitedly, as if aware!
And a shimmering, molten beauty covers all,
Naked trees and pumpkins and Windemere hall.
It touches my face and it kisses my lips,
And upon all the latterly flowers, it drips.
It oversees the harvest-apples red and green,
And all other edibles that nature's ever seen.
It's no wonder that ever since time was begun,
Birds have always chosen to follow the sun!
