Harvest Ball
Fresh Autumn leaves were dancing in the breeze
twirling, swirling down from black rain-soaked trees.
The oak leaf dressed in scarlet for the fall
while others chose bright amber for the ball.
Vermillion was the color to be worn
as sugar maples laughed and danced till dawn.
The whistle of the wind was their sweet song
darkened bark tuxedos swaying along.
A pewter sky reveals the light of day
and on damp ground the lovely dancers lay.
