Hamlet Needs a Room
HAMLET NEEDS A ROOM
Hamlet should have his own room
In your mansion and in mine
We should serve him, watch him bloom
And take care so he can shine
And Ophelia, treat with care
Making sure she is well kept
Kiss her wounds and brush her hair
Smooth the bed where she has slept
They have lessons we must learn
Cherished figures from keen stories
Wrap them tightly as we burn
Keep them safe in honored glories
Each has something dear to give
Each will help us on our way
As we struggle –breathe and live--
We need Heroes in each fray
They are creatures with their flaws
Who have suffered and faced life
Even though their world was books
Still they tasted grief and strife
Our poor prancing on life’s stage
Seems so paltry in design
But mere existence, joy and loss
Shows each flawed spark is blessed divine
