Rain crashing earthward that night, I take the freeway curve at too risky a speed, on too bald a tire. Traction gives out, the car spins one revolution, stopping safely between two offramps - my guardian angel was there for me!
// this occurred 13 years ago today, on 11/11/07, and I have been grateful ever since for the watchful eye of my guardian angel //

Had to come back and see this again to tell you, John, did I ever tell you that similar events like yours happened to me too? Once on black ice and several times on the freeway. I truly do believe in a "death day" Since only the good die young, I might actually get some more time to live!

You are right. Sometimes a little luck/a good star comes in quite handy! (Now, you're not still driving on those tires, are you?! lol). ~ gw

It wasn't my day to die, you know what I mean? I have become a good boy about checking the tires of everyone in my family, lesson learned! Thanks for the visit, Lobo.

How frightening - I was in an auto accident almost a year ago (last December) - I was fine but the car was wrecked - I am sure you are thankful every day that it wasn't worse!

Oh, Michelle I didn't know! I'm so glad you were okay, though the trauma tends to linger for a while. I'm sorry your car was wrecked. I'd love to hear the details if you care to Soupmail them to me. Thanks for the friendly comment ~ John

Great piece John, it's amazing how often our guardian angel may have saved us with us not knowing anything about it. Have a blessed weekend, Gordon

So true, Gordon, I think of that often. I believe we are being protected daily, but only once in a while is it revealed to us. Thank you for your kind words and warm comment, Gordon. Enjoy your weekend ~ John

Oh John, I so believe in guardian angels, My Dad is mine, he appeared to me not in person but as a huge ad. they have on highways, and the message said on a big blank white sheet of paper in bold black letters (TYRES SKID) My uncle came from England for the funeral and went out to check my car, all four tyres were bald - my darling father saved me also, my guardian angel! i HAVE FAVED THIS POEM! Blessings and hugs, Jennifer.

Thank you Alexis for such a kind and heartwarming comment today. My faith in God was deepened that day. If I'd started my skid a second earlier or a second later, I'd have totalled my car and I'd have been hospitalized or worse. Enjoy your day ~ John

John, great write, things like that have happened to me too, once I was driving on a highway and my car was split in two by a transport truck, behind the driver seat, my guardian angel must have been there _Constace
