Grandpa Was a Carpenter

Grandpa was a carpenter With his saw and hammer and plane, He built houses and a church and furniture So many knew his craftsman name, and then And then he had to slow down, No Social Security or pension had he, But not one to ever give up, He built flats for flowers from seed. Lowly little pansies caught his love, He planted his own flats ‘til faces would show, With the peaches from his backyard trees; This carpenter man sold all he would need. His hands were rough, his eyes held a twinkle; His hugs were so tight, my dress had a wrinkle; I’ll always remember my Scotchman grandpa; He gave me my dear mother, after all.

A wonderful tribute. I remember my grandpa acting like he was going to sit on me while I was standing up in a rocking chair. Long long ago. A wonderful man. Thank you so much for bringing that back!...............Pat

Hello Sunlite. What a beautiful way to remember your grandfather and honor his life and memory. Growing up my grandfather lived with us. You also have a marvelous ending. Well done entirely. Enjoy the night.

You painted such a warm, vivid, and loving picture of your 'Scotchman grandpa' that he came alive under your pen. 7+:) Amitiés
