Goodbye Mr. Campbell

Our province's premier resigned yesterday
After his liberal government had their way.
Making deals with Ottawa behind our backs
Then wondering why his integrity we attack.
When asked why he's stepping down after nine years
No honest answer came , just vagueness appears.
Not because trust from the masses and his own party he lacks,
He's just run out of ways to stab us in the back.
Now he'll take the hefty pension allotted to him
After making sure the rest of our wallets remain slim.
Goodbye Mr. Campbell, you won't be missed,
Can you see the finger sticking up from this fist.

You have described the typical run-of-the-mill politician very well with your words and rhyming here. After he leaves politics, he can always sell used cars.

I enjoyed this cynical piece. No different in England ,only the names.Sadly trust and integrity do not exist in the politicians manifesto once they're elected. One good thing though they provide plenty of material for good poems such as this. And I promise this comment IS honest and full of integrity concerning yourself.I wish you best of luck with it in the contest. Also thank you for your kind comments on my Love's Dream, the words of this piece mean so much to me,It's my dream also. WOW Francine Campbell has you riled up. Yes, they do walk out with a hefty pension and only after a short term in office. Would be nice if we could get that type of pension. I have no use of politicians for they can evade any type of question.. You never get a straight answer and yes, funny or not I will join you in sticking up that finger. Enjoyed this one immensely. So they have "politicians" in Canada also. I put politicians in parenthesis because it needs to stand out as a bad word. I must say that I voted yesterday. Didn't know what the hell I was doing, but I voted as best I could. Who knows? I might have voted for the next Hitler. Love, Dave
