Goodbye Dear Mother
Under the twilit moon she sat and thought,
why on earth her mother and dad fought.
Wishing she never heard the angry words,
through the pain she knew what she heard.
After the sun rose the next morn’,
heard the silence and then became forlorn.
No one told her mother was about to leave,
down on her bed she sat to think and grieve.
Answers never to be found in the light of day,
just couldn’t understand a parent’s way.
Sad and all alone with nothing to do,
down she laid on her bed and then she drew.
Silhouettes of her dear precious mother,
wishing a better life she had another.
Beautiful picture she had created,
sweet mother she so deeply related.
No more reasons as to why she didn’t stay,
wishing she never moved so far away.
Under the twilit moon she sat thinking,
Why on earth did mother start drinking?
