Gone Forever

1.
From a happy childhood, safe and loved,
I’ve come a long, long way.
But I recall those toothsome times
with sunshine all the day.
The woes and troubles of the world,
were kept from my young ears.
Ogres were only in story books
and were no cause for fears.

2.
Young children snatched from out our yards
and spirited away.
The freedom that I had in youth
cannot be theirs today.
This lovely world God gave us has
been almost destroyed by war.
It truly seems a grievous sin
to be happy anymore.
When there is hunger everywhere
and illness, sadness, tears,
even a beloved home is not
a refuge from our fears.

3.
It’s been ten years September Eleven,
since complete madness began.
Our safe world is gone forever
caused by savagery of man.

Beautifully written. However as we live in a cycle of hate, which a few individuals profit from enemies are manufactured for us to fight. Every event in which life ends is tragic however violence only begets more violence and in turn victims' families want revenge which will in turn beget only more violence. If we worked to help life instead of kill it, there would be few a loony who would have a reason to commit violence anymore.

9/11 truly changed the way we see life, Joyce. Where there once was trust, now there is skepticism. Those "comforts" we knew as children will never return I fear. Stunning write, dear friend. The savagery of man will be addressed on Judgment Day! Love, Carolyn

Aptly and well written. However, this 'complete madness' began long before the dawn of civilization. We have just become far more efficient lately. My dream is that one day our robots will fight their robots, and we can attend to our business.
