Couldn't sleep for a while last night so I wrote the first four lines in my head.  I was pleased that I remembered them so I could finish the poem today.

On a wild and lonely peak I sit
Waiting for the dawn.
I ran away from home, you see.
By now they know I'm gone.

Soon they'll come a searching
But they will never find
The me they thought they knew so well.
I've gone beyond their mind.

Thank you, thank you Pat for your very kind words. I came up with this in the middle of the night (when I couldn't sleep), and miracles of all miracles, I remembered it in the morning. Not a usual happening. Beverly

Actually Faraz, I did run away permanently both physically and in my mind. But this poem was talking about running away in my mind and escaping the hold that another person had on my mind. Thank you for reading. Welcome to the site. Hope you fin much to enjoy and help you. Beverly

Barry, thank you. At one time I did run away both figuratively and for real. It felt like a wild and lonely peak, but it worked out in the end.

Thank you Gail. Yes, to me too. At first I wondered why I was sitting on a wild and lonely peak; then I realized that when you run away it's not usually to a comfortable place. It's a scary thing to do, even if it is done figuratively. Beverly

I love it, Beverly. Figuratively we all leave and go somewhere, to think, rationalize, or just dream. When we come back we may look the same but we have changed. Great write!

I was wondering if anyone would get this. After I wrote it I had to think a while before I figured out what I was trying to say. Usually I know what I'm trying to say while I'm writing.
