Going On Nine Months

sipping pinot grigio '09 soothing raindrops of beethoven's ninth washing away the dust of my day tv on, watching my mudville nine - two outs in the bottom of the ninth, mighty casey struts up to the plate nine muses sip their own fickle wine come, dance under my oak tree once more I want to dream in color again

It's been longer for me, John, but I've kept writing and posting a bit despite, out of a promise to my sister. I'm still waiting for the lightning to strike, but you know, by forcing myself in the midst of this promise, (that I wish I hadn't made), I look back and see some really good stuff, that didn't FEEL like good stuff at the time. I doubt the lightning will EVER strike again, (I feel ... empty), but maybe that's the wrong impetus anyway ... so I listen ... for the still, small voice. ;o)

Sorry I had not commented earlier, this is quite a clever way to use '9', I don't watch a lot of baseball (my sport is football!) but I can feel the nostalgia in this, love your final line too!

Hi John, this almost sounds like a dream you had. I have missed you Mr John Watts, and your limericks are way out and great, but I do miss your old poetry and the comments we gave to one another. This poem sure shows your poetic skills, hope I hear from you soon - have just come of of hospital, having had a major procedure. Hugs and blessings! Jennifer.

Yes, that thought occurred to me as well, haha! I was referring to my lack of a muse for almost nine months.

Fine writing, John. I really enjoyed your musings. Sounded like a quiet evening before the TV watching a game.

Thank you Tom. Actually baseball is more of a beer sport, but Beethoven goes with any beverage, haha.
