God's Embrace, a Prayer
Longing for yesterday, we mourn today and hide our faces from tomorrow. We listen to the beats of our hearts of stone with our fine-tuned ears of clay.
Our lives are filled with stress and gone are the hearts of tenderness. Everyone desires a little muse and to have our little personal say. We grasp
for that which will no longer be and console ourselves with make-believe. Our contracts are filled with lies of deceit because absolutes and character are in
retreat. O come O come, return to us O God who is enthroned with the attribute of trust. Hear our prayers O Holy One who guides us with grace,
simplicity, and tenderness. It is us; it is we; it is I who have strayed from
your ways. O come O come, return to us O God of sweet and solacing
honesty. Forgive our rebellion and remember mercy. Let us rest again in your warm embrace. Break down our walls of apathy and awake us from our sleep
of arrogancy, lest at the end we reap misery, poverty, and wow. We have sown bad seeds in our restless haste only to reap sorrow and waste. Few
would dare deny that by far we have forsaken you and with little delay have gone astray. But let not the days of grace be gone, and greet us gently today.
