When I see a woman on the street Pale, sad and looking at me With a ghost of a prayer in dull eyes That have lost their shine I am reminded of her The lovely black lady I met there On the street Who didn’t beg or reject The twenty that I held out for her To accept with a “thank you” And a smiling, “God is good all the time” Words that sought me out Reminding me that I am forever safe Behind the prayer that saves The amazing grace that reminds me Of this lovely lady who knew Despite her homelessness God is always good!
