Glimpses Of Grace

Floating gently on a breeze of serendipity, Soaring the celestial skies, heavens window, I catch one final wistful, breathless breath, And from above with sadness look below . I watch my life lived, unfurled before my eyes, A single tear drop hangs upon a silver thread, Our destinies ordained as to God's own design, I listen to others like me, the whispering dead. "Dear, have I grown old, without the care to look, Is my temple too old and frail to love and hold, Tell me, have I displeased or not understood, Have I failed in my love for you or motherhood ? Failing eyes, your limpid soul within my scope, A time when you looked at me as your princess, But time has raped me of my broken mind and looks, And you have bared the brunt of my wickedness. The hearts that danced with almond rainbows, Eyes fulfilled with the promise of eternal love, Flown the spring of Mother Nature's glows Dappled waves reflected in my winter eyes. I feel your soft hands glide across my memories, Every tear I savour in the lines of wrinkled flesh, To file with other lost and forgotten memories, In my broken mind I am still beautiful and fresh. Did we love and care for one another my dear, Did we have children as beautiful as our love, Will you still love me when I'm no longer here, Will you tell our children my heart breaks with love ? I have no hunger or desire to take up residence, The falling ceiling and closing walls are calling, You have to let me go , I breathe your hesitance, Let me sleep my love, my other world is calling. 'Til we meet again my darling, our hearts to mend. Hold dear the thought of forever love entwined, And that love is never ours to own but always lend Forever and eternity my one true love my one true friend . Good night my love , your loving Grace.

Oh my Daniel….your poem is so beautifully moving and touching! It went straight to my heart! Dementia is such a sad disease. I recently spent time with someone with dementia so your poem struck a chord. Debx

Good Morning Deb, thank you so much , I tried to capture the true spirit of someone with dementia , this was for me such an emotional poem to write , to loose your identity, your memories of the past , to look in the mirror and not recognise the reflection , is such a sorrowed thought , thank you so much for your lovely kind words. Daniel

Poem's sweet and pleading words standing against the passage of time brought the reader to the depths of emotion. Ending lines are saved from sadness by the eternal love which brought it full circle. This is a fantastic poem.

Hi Hilda , I'm so pleased you liked the poem , it was easier to write than to read back to myself as I personally found it emotional, I'm a softy at heart, the poem flirts with dementia and how we can lose someone even when they are still there . Many thanks for messaging . Have a great weekend . Daniel

Hello Daniel, this is a hauntingly beautiful meditation on life, love, and the passage of time. The imagery you evoke is both poignant and profound, drawing the reader into the tender moments of introspection and reflection. I love how your words are filled with a depth of emotion that lingers long after reading. Daniel this is a very touching exploration of love's enduring power and the beauty found in its bittersweet embrace. - Blessings, Daniel

perfection is the word that came to mind after reading your soulful poem. I loved 'the whispering dead'--those words added a certain timelessness and grace to your poem. I felt twinges of sadness as I finished your poem. Your poem flowed well and brought many thoughts to mind. Absolutely the best poem I've read today. have a splendid evening, Sara
