Glimpse
catching a glimpse
of myself
in the mirror
scares me
a furtive look
i'm taken aback
at what i see
the marks of contempt
hostility and disgust
etched deep in my face
i stop and gasp
desperately try to stretch
the ugliness out of my face
back into somewhat of a
semblance of my real self
in total disbelief
of the effect you have on me
