Gliding In Endless Blue

"My life is a story, yours is" By Poet

Every life is an inimitable story ...
My life is a story, yours is.

Being a girl restricted my movement,
Being a girl restricted my feelings,
Being a girl restricted my freedom of speech,
                              And pursuit of knowledge.

I was born in a country which
regained their freedom from a hundred years of foreign rule..
People were excited, ecstatic, full of enthusiasm…
A new day was in view,
But for women, society was still closed,
Women did not have the power to decide their own path,
Express their opinions, aspirations, or feelings!

Creativity is the open sky which let me free.
A little girl unlocked her boundless imagination
When life was a prison for her.
There was no barrier when passions took flight,
Like an open-winged bird gliding in the endless blue,
In the infinity she soared high.

                                   Became a new Me!
No more identify myself with the pictures from the past!
From a demure, soft-spoken, bashful girl,
                                Progressively transforming
Into a strong, resolute, determined, soul.
created myself ~ with bits and pieces ~ multi-hued fragments of my life.

My story is a story of finding freedom,
                              ~ finding my distinctive voice!

Reference: The Indian Independence Act was passed in 1947. The act created two new independent dominions; India and Pakistan. Pakistan was split into Pakistan and East Pakistan which is now Bangladesh. The Bengal and Punjab provinces were partitioned between the two new countries.

Thank you, Connie. You are right - all women in the world can celebrate their freedom - which was denied to them for thousands of years. I have seen a few amazingly powerful women in my family - and I am inspired by them. I am fortunate to find my voice, and I really want to support others to find theirs. Love and Blessings, Dearest Friend.

Thanks, Ann. I was very much into literature -reading and writing from an early age, and my family, especially my parents always encouraged me. But even their hands were tied - the society was not free for women till now - so I had some struggles to find my identity.

Thank you, JCB. My country got freedom with huge sacrifices, but individual freedom is also precious and hard to find in many circumstances.
