Matthew 7:12
King James Version
Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
I saw her on the street and my heart skipped a beat
She was haggard and worn and I could have sworn
Her light had dimmed to the point of blinking out
I saw him by the road, holding a makeshift sign
That read, “will work for a dollar or two”
Allow me to do something to earn a good meal
I saw her begging for a coin or two, enough to feed
The family that must have waited at home for her
And I gave her a bill that spoke of love and truth
I saw him on the way home from work today
He was tired and lonely and didn’t know what to say
When I handed him a bag full of groceries and toiletries
I saw her waiting by the river as I passed across the bridge
And there was something in her heart that smiled again
Left me feeling reassured that I’d been a true friend to Him
I saw him as I left my job today and he looked happier
A kindness fell around him, glowing like a beam of hope
And I knew that God was in his life in a way that blessed him
I saw them as I struggled to listen to the sound of joy
Caressing a soul and breathing love into an open heart
Who knows that it is always God who inspired a giving thought
