Girasoles (Spanish word) are sunflowers. Pronounced as:  hee-rah-so-lays.....

Listen to poem:
Girasoles sway in wind outside the sad vacant house across the street. They are very high, almost filling spaces where small thin children played. Shrill cries, and shouts, floated across the narrow street, assaulted my ears. These tall sunflowers are so stubborn, so quiet, so yellow and so brown. But now, I would trade them all for another chance to see, to hear, some noisy children at their play. Tomorrow I will help to clean up that yard, may recommend new tenants -- other children. And, I will not miss those brown and yellow girasoles.

I can relate to this kind of poem, Leo. Imagery tempers the mood. Sunflowers have the ability to do so. Top marks to you. #7 // paul

Things we remember are interpreted and accepted as our reality. Some are good, some aren't. Such is life as you have so aptly described it. Allan

Leo, oh your poem is wonderful, mother had sunflowers in her garden but they needed to be controlled as they go wild, your poem holds a sadness and a hope, 7 and thanks for visiting my poem, nearly the same, that was so weird to write in homophones, glad you understood it
