Notes About The Poem

For Nette Onclaud's Drop The Cliche Poetry Contest/ Topic #6/ Dec. 11, 2025

Ghosted

A cheery cherry popsycle was I when my flavor you savored with passion. Then you left without even goodbye. You, with warm lips! Where went your compassion? Half of me remains now in this freezer where first you found me – loveless and alone. I, once your favorite love-taste pleaser, lie unseen– as cold as an Arctic stone.

Here to say congratulations to you on this work that was a winner. I think I entered a contest like this, but I don't think I placed. I am not sure if this is about a popsicle or if it is a metaphor. Either way, it is very creative and descriptive. Thank you for sharing it with us. Sara K

It's a ghosted person, dear (before she got ghosted and now is a half popsicle cold as a stone)

Congratulations, dear poet, on your top win in this contest with a lovely poem, apparently drawing inspiration from recollections of youthful days. An unhibited depiction of passionate feel, which would have ripened you with experience.

Andrea, such strong emotion is conveyed in just a few words. Great metaphor.

A beautiful poem quite different in thought and analogy. It is poignant and deep. As a young student, how I used to enjoy popsicle. All the best Andrea.

Indeed, such hurt effects us deeply, profoundly. People will always let us down, disappoint us in some way...why we reserve a higher power. God disappointing also? Hmm....

To tell you the truth, I prefer ice cream, but I love the personification. Best for a win.
