Geography Nut

GEOGRAPHY NUT Geography - don’t get me started Places well-known and some uncharted River, country, mountain and town - Direction - Alaska up, Australia down Any place in the world When that map’s unfurled Wiggly spaghetti lines of different colour Attract me to all land, even polar. Old map torn, burnt plan or diagram Breaks my heart, sobs my diaphragm: It’s a place that’s blotted out, destroyed And no further help can be deployed. Maps take me where I cannot go I can stay there a day or a year or so. Trip around the Andes in Patagonia? Oh yeah, I know it’s a phoney, yeah….. But the world is larger than my travel budget. A plane won’t fly for free, they won’t budge it. My situation may seem hapless Until I open up my giant atlas.
