Genuine Heroes

Relentlessly serving our country day and night, Guarding us with all their might. Fearlessly standing without thinking about the end, Gracefully towards our safety their lives they lend. Treading their way through life filled with danger, An uncertainty of departing from everything they hold so dear. With each day they become grim reapers new challenger, A battle that they are ready to fight without any fear. Not a moment to waste, not even the wink of an eye, For all they know within that split second they could die. Every moment and every breath could be their last, Within a flash they could leave this world so vast. How much do they leave behind whilst fighting so diligently? Families full of anxious and distraught minds, Who wait for their arrival ever so patiently. Unaware that their future holds pain that blinds. Wrapped in tri colour comes home the fallen hero, And regrets for leaving their life behind are zero. Heavy hearts shouldering the coffins of the deceased, For their duty towards the nation they now care in the least. Bravely they stood through everything in their way, But now their time has come. No longer they need to stand guard all day, As now their work in this world is done. A death of honor and gratitude they received, It was the day that at brutality the whole country grieved. For the safety of the country our soldiers live and die, And their honorable sacrifice makes it even more difficult to say goodbye. They make it easy for us to sleep at night, While for our safety they relentlessly fight. Words don’t match their dedication for what they do, And no amount of gratitude will clear the debt that is due.
